life we are renowned manufacturer and wholesale exporter of
Hand-knotted carpets and rugs and other handicraft item worldwide.
Our organization works on “Extended Family Concept” in which the
artisans as not looked upon as mere laborers; rather as family
members. I believe that everyone has power to transform the word the
key is to search within and discover your power.
I learnt to weave with two looms in my
compound in a small Rajasthan town constructed a country-wide
network of 25,000 artisans in 8 states to build India’s largest
hand-knotted carpets company.
The company has
itself been crafted very unconventionally; the organizational
structure evolves organically. I have learned to understand people
deeply and recruit. This is a company that runs without management.
The workers have graduated into running the stores and the supply
chain. I have spent a large part of my life building the network of
weavers and improving quality. Over 30 years has been honing the art
of dyeing, obtaining the right quality yarn, removing weaving
defects and eliminating washing problems. In each case we got to the
deep root cause of the problem and obtained the solution. For me it
is a spiritual activity “Achievement in business helps you discover
yourself”. Jaipur Rugs is no longer just a business entity. It has
also become a mission for me to promote rural wellbeing.
